The Russian Institute (Director: Pyo Sang-yong) held the 6th New Northern Policy Forum on July 1 (Fri).
The forum is the sixth of its kind held after the Russian Institute was selected as the organization to carry out the New Northern Policy Forum project among the bilateral industrial cooperation projects of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy following last year. The 6th forum was held in the form of a round table with experts from the field to seek ways to promote economic cooperation with Uzbekistan.
At the round table, Dr. Byun Hyun-seop (North Economic Cooperation Committee) presented the 'Korea-Uzbekistan Economic Cooperation Performance and Future Cooperation Tasks.' Dr. Park Ji-won (KOTRA) then announced on 'Uzbekistan's economic outlook after the Ukraine crisis and South Korea-Uzbek cooperation plan.' Donior Usmanov (Representative of Uzbekistan, Secretariat of the Korea-Central Asia Cooperation Forum) presented the 'New Phase of Cooperation between Korea and Uzbekistan: Measures to Strengthen Economic Cooperation'. Kim Jong-kook, head of the Overseas Construction Association, announced 'the current status of the Korean construction industry's entry into Uzbekistan'.
The 6th forum is meaningful in that it has considered with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy on economic cooperation with Korea and Uzbekistan, evaluation of ongoing projects, suspension and continuation of existing projects, and future cooperation projects under the Yoon Suk Yeoln government.
