In this monograph, Prof. Song examines Russia’s multifaceted wartime experiences during the Second World War, encompassing both front-line and rear experiences, from Europe to the Far East. He explores the perspectives not only of soldiers and government leaders but also of administrators, workers in the rear, and residents of occupied territories, thereby presenting a multi-layered account of how Russian society endured and responded to the war. The study also investigates how contemporary Russia remembers, commemorates, and utilizes the war, shedding light on its legacy and present-day significance.
