On July 29, 2025, the Institute of Russian Studies (Director: Prof. Woo-Ik Choi) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the School of Foreign Languages of Tianjin Normal University (Dean: Prof. Zhi Xiaoting) to promote academic cooperation.

The School of Foreign Languages at Tianjin Normal University currently includes departments of Russian, English, French, Japanese, and Korean, and is in the process of expanding its curriculum to encompass regional studies courses and research. Based on the MOU, the school plans to dispatch professors and graduate students to HUFS in the near future to promote academic exchanges in the field of regional studies.

For the signing ceremony, Profs. Ai-Hwa Kim and Yue-Mei Quan of the Department of Korean Studies visited the Institute of Russian Studies, introducing the structure and vision of the School of Foreign Languages. In turn, the Institute presented its current research activities and achievements in regional studies, laying the groundwork for future cooperation between the two institutions.
