The 11th IRS Forum Held
On May 8, our university's Russian Studies Institute (Director Pyo Sang-yong) hosted the 11th Russian Studies Institute (IRS) Forum on the topic of "Imperial Faberge Eggs: Revitalized in the Modern Era" in room 3305 of the Social Science Building on the Seoul Campus, inviting Yoo Hee-kwon, the chief librarian of the New York Public Library. Chief Librarian Yoo Hee-kwon, who has worked for 23 years in the research division of the New York Public Library, one of the world’s four largest libraries with a collection of 55 million books, has led the digitization of Slavic-Baltic region-related materials, planned exhibitions of the collections, and wrote books and papers analyzing and introducing related materials, provided a valuable opportunity to broaden understanding of Russian history and art by introducing the history of the “Faberge Egg,” a treasure produced for the imperial family in the late days of Imperial Russia, as well as the New York Public Library’s Russian-related books and collections.
