
The 6th Arctic Cooperation Week in 2021 is hosted by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and is hosted by the Korea Maritime and Fisheries Development Institute and the Korea Polar Research Institute. In 2021, the ‘Polar Activities Promotion Act’ was enacted and the construction of the next-generation icebreaking research institute was confirmed. ‘2021 Arctic Cooperation Week’ under the theme of ‘New Arctic Cooperation 2050’ was designed with the purpose of resolving current Arctic issues and promoting Korea’s capabilities and potential as a responsible member of the international community contributing to sustainable development.
