2024 Korea-Russia think tank network construction project carried out




Continuing from last year, our research institute (Director Pyo Sang-yong) is carrying out a project to build a Korea-Russia think tank network this year.

 

 


This project will be carried out for approximately nine months from March to November this year with the purpose of promoting exchange and cooperation between major think tanks in the two countries. During the project period, our Russian Institute will be affiliated with the Moscow University of International Relations (MGIMO), Russia's representative think tank, the Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IMEMO), and the Higher Economics Institute. Universities (HSE: Higher School of Economics), ICCA: Institute of China and Contemporary Asia RAS, Valdai Discussion Club, Russian Institute of Strategic Studies (RISS), etc. A total of six seminars, including three international conferences and three roundtables, will be held in Moscow. Through various academic activities, Korean and Russian experts in various fields seek ways to promote cooperation between the two countries by discussing detailed agendas such as diplomacy, international security, and the global economy.

 


Pyo Sang-yong, director of the Russian Institute, emphasized, “Academic exchanges are needed to bridge the currently strained relationship between Korea and Russia, and it is especially important for the Russian Institute, the leading Russian think tank in Korea, to play that role.” As part of the Korea-Russia think tank network construction project, our institute plans to hold an international academic conference and seminar in Moscow twice in June and November and is collaborating with local organizations.
