Our University's Russia Research Institute (Director: Pyo Sang-yong) is carrying out a project to build a Korea-Russia Think Tank Network hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in cooperation with Hanyang University's Asia-Pacific Research Center and Eurasia Policy Research Institute.
As the first event, a seminar was held jointly with the Russian International Affairs Commission (RIAC) under the theme of 'Korea-Russia Cooperation from the Perspective of New Northern Policy: Evaluation and Tasks.' The conference, which was held at the National Diplomatic Academy's conference room on Thursday, was attended by 16 Russian and Korean experts over two sessions aimed at promoting international cooperation between Russia and South Korea, discussing Korea's achievements and future challenges, and finding a more advanced approach.
At the opening ceremony, Russian Ambassador to Korea Andrey Kulik delivered a speech following the opening speech of National Diplomat Hong Hyun-ik and the welcoming speech of Russian International Affairs Committee (RIAC). In the first session, Korea's presentation on the assessment, geopolitical conditions and prospects of the New Northern Policy and Russia's position were discussed. In the second session, Korea-Russia logistics cooperation, health care, and digital innovation industries were discussed under the theme of new areas of Korea-Russia cooperation and future tasks of the New Northern Policy.
The Russian Institute will hold international symposiums with the Moscow University of International Relations (MGIMO), the Institute of World Economics and International Relations (IMEMO) and the Higher School of Economics.
