‘Arctic Research Seminar’ held at ‘2023 8th Arctic Cooperation Week’
The ‘Arctic Research Seminar’, hosted by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and held on the third day of the ‘2023 8th Arctic Cooperation Week’, was held at the Busan Port International Exhibition and Convention Center from December 10th to 12th.
At the Arctic research seminar co-hosted by Hankuk University of Foreign Studies Russian Research Institute, Pai Chai University Korea-Siberia Center, Incheon National University Graduate School of Northeast Asian Logistics, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies Polar Research Center, and Arctic Society, sessions for young researchers and experts were held under the theme of 'Arctic, a new future'. .
In the first part, which was moderated by Professor Bong-cheol Kim (Director of the EU Research Institute at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies), Ms. Margarita Krivoshapkina and Ms. Ariuna Aiusheeva presented her research results.
In the second part of the expert session that followed, Professor Choi Woo-ik (Hankuk University of Foreign Studies) moderated, Secretary-General Seo Hyun-kyo (KoARC/Polar Research Institute) discussed 'Arctic climate change and Korea's Arctic policy direction' and Professor Jeong Hyeok (Hankook University of Foreign Studies) discussed 'Norway's Arctic region. There was a presentation on ‘Reviews on the Possibility of Realizing Climate Justice by the Sami People’ and Professor Bae Gyu-seong (Paichai University) on ‘The Future of Arctic Governance (Arctic Council 2.0): Cooperation and Division’, along with Director Ha-yong Jang (Busan Research Institute) and Dr. Seung-woo Han (Polar Research Institute). Research Institute) and Professor Seun-rae Kim (Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, Russian Research Institute) took charge of the discussion.
