On June 6, 2025, the Institute of Russian Studies (Director:  Woo-Ik Choi) hosted the award ceremony of the 15th National University (Graduate) Student Russian Debate Competition at the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Seoul.

The ceremony was attended by Russian Ambassador to Korea Georgy Zinoviev, Minister-Counselor Dmitry Gulkin, Mr. Aleksandr Yakimovets, Representative of Rossotrudnichestvo, as well as Prof. Woo-Ik Choi (Director of the Institute of Russian Studies), Prof. Hyun-Taek Kim (Emeritus Professor, HUFS), Mr. Jong-Ho Park (President of KRBC), Prof. Young-Jun Ham (Dankook University), and HK Research Professor Mi-Ra Jeon (Institute of Russian Studies). The event celebrated the achievements of the student awardees and included a cultural program featuring the screening of a Russian film.

Since 2011, the Institute of Russian Studies and the Russian Embassy have jointly hosted this annual debate competition to foster young talent and raise public awareness of Russian studies and Russian language learning. Prizewinners receive scholarships supported by Rossotrudnichestvo, as well as certificates co-signed by the President of HUFS and the Russian Ambassador.
